YOUTH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
WHEN A CHILD STRUGGLES WITH EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS OR MENTAL ILLNESS, YOUR HEART BREAKS.
It can be difficult to grasp and even harder to talk about.
At CPES we’re here to help. Our vision is to “empower every person to achieve their highest quality of life.” Please know that you and your loved one are not alone. Here, you will find a unique blend of comprehensive, specialized services combined with proven treatment options and an unwavering commitment to supporting your family.
CPES Child and Adolescent residential treatment services are designed to serve youth who present with significant emotional and behavioral problems. Almost 95% of those admitted have multiple presenting issues. CPES provides evidenced based treatment that are person centered in a home-based setting. Our goal is to return children to a less restrictive environment and to continue their progress with their family when possible, or therapeutic foster care when it is not.
POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT (PBS)
Our integrated treatment model is based on Positive Behavior Support (PBS). The first step in the planning process is to form a team of individuals who live with and support the person. Together the individual and their team will identify strengths, build on social and communication skills, and make changes in settings that are associated with problem behavior. Children are encouraged to identify triggers, coping/relaxation skills, develop insight into their challenging behaviors, and develop and practice replacement behaviors. Part of the PBS approach is to consider the entire system surrounding the child, not just the child’s challenging behaviors. Family systems are addressed, environmental modifications are proposed, and the Functional Behavioral Assessment is developed to provide a blueprint for continued success of the child after discharge.
