Self-Advocacy/Customer Choice
The Arc of the United States works through education, research and advocacy to improve the quality of life for children and adults with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families and works to prevent both the causes and the effects of mental retardation.
AzEIP provides Interim Service Coordination statewide for families of children birth to 36 months with concerns about their child's development. Interim Service Coordinators guide families through the AzEIP eligibility process. Developmental screening and evaluation is provided at no cost to the family. Interim Service Coordinators assist families of AzEIP-eligible children to enroll with State agencies (such as Division of Developmental Disabilities; Dept. of Health Services; Az State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind Outreach Programs). A primary agency provides a Service Coordinator and an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for early intervention services. The Center for Self-Determination is not a place. It is a highly interactive working collaborative of individuals and organizations committed to the principles of self-determination. The purpose of the collaborative is to change the nature of the support and service system for individuals with disabilities, using the principles of self-determination to help all persons create the lives they want, connected to and with their communities.
The mission of MOCHA is to improve the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities while providing a support and information network for their mentors.

The self-determination movement was founded on four basic American principles.
OASIS stands for "Online Asperger Syndrome Information & Support" Their site was designed to provide access to information for families of children diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and related disorders, educators who teach children with AS, professionals working with individuals diagnosed with AS, and individuals with AS who are seeking support.
People First is people joining together to learn how to speak for ourselves. We want others to know that we are PEOPLE FIRST, and that our disabilities come second.
