AHCCCS provides individuals meeting income eligibility requirements with health care services. Children with disabilities in lower-income families may be eligible to receive SSI payments. Families should apply at Social Security Administration (SSA) offices. A child under age 18 can establish disability under the Social Security Administration's regulations if the child has a medically determinable impairment which results in marked and severe functional limitations and which can be expected to result in death or which has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months. Families can assist the application process by gathering medical and educational information to support the application.
